Why do these orange trees have a bump or thickness on their trunks?

I was walking through the community orange trees and noticed all the trees have this thick part at the bottom of the trunk. I never noticed it before.

A quick google search says it is because citrus trees are grafted. This is where it grows out of the grafted section.
