Manually Mounting an SD Memory Card on a Mac

For the last two years or so I have had trouble getting my iMac and now my MacBook Pro to show the drive for the SD card when I insert it. I figured the Mac just had a crappy SD card reader and would keep trying to insert it and finally it would show up.

Last night I actually tried looking this up and Gemini had an answer. It said to load Disk Utility and the card would show up and I could just hit the mount button. I tried that and it worked immediately. I don't understand why my Mac doesn't want to just mount it automatically. But this is a nice trick I didn't know.
